The Playable demo file is a fully functioning K2 multi which includes a fully operational HolyGrail Add-On demo version. The Demo Instrument is using Hybrid Piano Nr. 2.

It offers two full octaves with all 20 velocity layers and full 24 bits wavefiles that are exactly as in the full version. The demo is restricted to 2 full octaves plus all C’s.


The Multi loads two instruments slots:

-         Hybrid 2 Demo (the main piano file)

-         HolyGrail Add-On Demo (the special effects Add-On)

to let you evaluate the advanced features of the Hybrid Pianos.

 

 

 

HOLY GRAIL ADD-ON:

 

 

The Holy Grail Add-On brings you the holy grail in piano sampling: Hammer Sound upon Key Release, Release Sample Upon Note Release, Sustain Resonance upon Sustain Pedal use and Pedal squeaks upon pedal movement. The interface allows you to change each of these components to taste. The script is light on polyphony, currently set to 24 effect notes but this can best be increased to 40 or more for realistic results. The Holy Grail Add-On demo is fully functional but restricted to the 2-octave range of the main instrument.

 

 

SCRIPTS in the Hybrid 2 piano file.

This piano file demonstrates some interesting use of several scripts and convolution. The picture below shows 4 of the many possibilities with scripts: velocity scaling, Piano Pedals, Humanizer and Pattern Recorder.

Scripts:

-         1/ Velocity Scaling:

-        

-         This script allows you to change the velocity response of the main piano completely to taste. Alternatively you could use the Change Velocity scripts that also allows control over velocity response but adds some presets for compression/enhancer

-         2/ Piano Pedals:

-        

-         This script assigns all the 3 main piano pedals.

-          

-         3/ Humanizer:

-        

-         Not essential, but helps to make your piano playback style a little less perfect. Great when you play back midi files!

-         4/ Pattern Recorder:

-        

-         A sequencer/pattern recorder that is easy to use as sketchpad.

 

CONVOLUTION

Convolution is used to recreate a realistic sustain pedal resonance that is better than the traditional sampled sustain pedal notes. Convolution behaves like a real piano sustain pedal: it fades in starting at the very moment you press the pedal even if notes are already sounding.

The picture below shows how the Convolution Send Fader is controlled by the Sustain Pedal (Midi cc3 64) and shows some of the optins you have when you want to tweak your sustain pedal sustain. (Remember that the HolyGrail Add-On also produces a faithful sustain sample and that these two can be used together to create a lush full resonance effect.

 

 

 

 

Convolution is also used to add great sounding reverberation, but these IR’s are not included in the demo version.
